Hi all. New here. Need help with Losi 5iveT
« on: January 31, 2015, 10:14:52 AM »
Hi everyone. Recently I have purchased a brand new losi 5ivet. I have done all the right things with it, only mods are a losi pipe, killer rc kill switch and some bling. I have only ran 1 tank through it and now it won't start again. Have tried everything to problem solve and start it and still no good. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas why it's not starting.
1. We have spark and fuel
2. Timing is correct
3. Kill switch has been removed to eliminate that.
4. Have cleaned out carby
5. Piston is nice and clean

Running out of ideas.

Howdy mate and welcome to the SALS forum :good:

Sounds like your doin the correct check overs process of elimination.

1. The back gasket on the carb has a little hole pulse hole need to make sure it lines up with the manifold.
2. Try a new plug.
3. Turn car upside down and pull starter see if fuel come out hole might be flooded.
4.Add a little bit of fuel thru the plug hole and try start it something moght be wrong with fuel lines e.g. wrong way around or fuel hoses could be wrong way around on carb.

Hi there. Thanks for the info. Yeah I have changed the plug and have also had plug out to get fuel out. The little hole on the carby you talk about, do u have a picture or something on that so I can look at. There is fuel getting into carby and engine so I think the lines are on correctly. I have never had them off.

Hello I had a similar problem with my baja 5b. It ran for one tank of fuel and then would not start . My problem was the breather hole in the fuel cap was blocked. Remove the fuel cap and loosely put it back on and see if it will start. Cheers

Hi Darryl. Yes I gave that a shot as well. Took cap right of. I have a DDM alloy cap and the hole in the top is all open and clean. Is there anyone in the Noarlunga area that would be happy to have a look at it for me?? If not I will have to take motor out and give to the boys at model flight to look at. They said they will either get the engine going or replace it for me.. Just don't want to go to the effort of removing it all if its something easy. Thanks in advance guys.

Hi Dcniac, Welcome to our forum and to Large Scale !!
Engines can be a pain in the ar$e at times but it is normally something simple , quite often when they won't start it's spark or too much or not enough fuel  or bad carby settings, worn ring or leaking gaskets but I take it yours is a New engine !!
But sounds like you have checked these things out !! Have you tried a few drops of fuel down the plug hole then a couple of gentle pulls with the plug out and your finger on the plug hole to pump it through the cycles then trying the plug back in and see if she goes ??
Also check the idle screw setting as if it is set to low it won't start unless you throttle it to get it going !! Hope this helps if not and all fails you can bring it upto the track and one of us can look at it for ya or take the whole car with the engine in it back to modelflight for them to look at for you !!
