Racing Format & Schedule
« on: February 15, 2016, 08:12:02 PM »
Hey Guys,

Please read below as this will be the format and guidelines.

Racing Schedule
7.00am - 7.30am gates open
8:00am - 8.30am Registration and Scrutineering
8.15am - 8.30am Practice if required (car must be scrutineered first)
8.30am - 8.45am track watering and as required throughout the day
8:45am – Drivers Briefing
9:00am – Racing Starts heats
12.00pm - 1.00pm approximately Lunch break
1.00pm approx. Finals start
3.00 – 4.00pm Racing finished.

2x 15 Minute Heats
1x 30 Minute Final

Classes
2WD EFRA
2WD BAJA
4WD AARCMCC
4WD OUTLAW
(refer to AARCMCC rules for class definitions here - http://www.sals.org.au/index.php?topic=393)

If there are 3 or less competitors for a class identified during registration, two classes will be combined for heats and finals (points will remain separate). For example, if there are 3 competitors in 4WD AARCMCC, they will join the 4WD OUTLAW class for racing that day.

Racers must be fully paid members of SALS at the beginning of the series in order to accrue points for that series and be eligible for the championship (unless otherwise stipulated by the committee).
If the member is not a fully paid member at the beginning of the series, they will be ineligible for the championship.

Track Watering
Track watering will be carried out by either 2wd or 4wd classes alternating rounds. Will be listed on noticeboard end of pit shed .Dependant upon weather may be between heat rounds and between final rounds as required. Race director to make the call on the day and call for watering of the track as required.

Marshalling
All participants are responsible to Marshall immediately after their heat/final or have a nominated club member or race participant available. If numbers are low, we appreciate people volunteering where possible. All driven wheels must be stopped or vehicle will not be recovered back onto the track. All drivers to slow when Marshall on track.

Scrutineering
All cars must be scrutineered before racing and must have the following. A 3rd channel kill switch/pico, working brakes and operate on 2.4GHz frequency. Transponders to be fitted to all cars if you want them timed. Hire units available at track but numbers are limited.

Points System

The point system being used is as follows:
  • Points are allocated on your overall heat placing
  • Heats - 3,2,1,0,0,0,0.
  • Finals - 20, 17, 15, 13,11,10,9,8,7......1
  • DNS - 0 - Defined as either not griding up or griding up and not making it around to the loop for detection.
In the event of a round cancellation due to weather, that round will be made up the following week.
If it cannot be made up the following week, the round is cancelled altogether.

There are no "dropped rounds" in any series, all rounds completed count for points.

If anyone has any questions let me know.

Cheers
Mat

We generally rotate it between rounds. Typically 2nd Outlaw, 2nd EFRA,  4WD AARCMCC, then 4WD Outlaw.

This goes everyone a chance to race with a smooth track to start the day at a round. As the track can deteriorate during the day it allows everyone through the series to race  as fairly as possible. Times can very with track conditions  so we try to be fair to all over a series. Dependant upon numbers of drivers in each class we might combine 2nd or 4wd classes on the day.

Cheers Gaz

Hope rule FULLY PAID members only is in unforced this season for the points as it hasn't in the past !!!

That is why it is written above, so everyone is aware of how the points system will work.

Previously, this particular rule wasn't in place. As there has been a bit of confusion around it before, it should now be clear.
